The hammer type Poldi Hardness Tester is suitable for measuring the Brinell Hardness of Steel, Cast iron, Brass Aluminum, Copper etc. This Poldi Hardness Tester is used to test parts where bench type model is not useful. This type of machine is most ideal and simple for foundries, Workshops, Engineering Colleges, Technical Institutions etc.

Principle:

The load is applied by a hammer blow on the specimen and a standard test bar in a linear direction through a hardened steel ball of 10 mm dia.

The impact load on both is the same.

The extent of indentation on the specimen and the test bar depends on their hardness.

The two diameters of indentations on test bar and specimen are measured by a magnifier supplied along with the tester.

The hardness of the specimen can be determined, by referring got the chart supplied with the machine.

"HLE" refers to an impact device for Portable LEEB Hardness Tester, a tool used for measuring the hardness of metals. Specifically, "HLE" indicates a high-hardness Leeb impact device, which is designed for testing very hard objects. The "LEEB" method is a dynamic, rebound-based hardness test, and the HLE impact device uses a specific tip and energy to measure hardness. 

HLE: The designation for a specific impact device model designed for very hard materials, which typically corresponds to a hardness of around 65 HRC (Rockwell C).

Impact Device: A component of the hardness tester that is propelled against the material to be tested. It has a hard metal tip that deforms the surface, and the velocity of the impact and rebound is measured to determine hardness.

Leeb Hardness Testing: A dynamic (rebound) method where the velocity of an impact body is compared before and after it bounces off the test surface.

Purpose: Used for on-site hardness testing of large, heavy, or installed parts, including those with very high hardness values.
